Holmes Miller is a major UK architectural practice with a proud 70-year history. Known for our passion for excellence in architecture, sustainability, and interior design, we’re now seeking a proactive and driven Office Manager to help shape the smooth operation of our growing practice.
Office Manager for a busy Architectural company, based in Glasgow but with oversight of offices in St Albans and Leeds. Reporting to the Managing Director, this role is pivotal in creating a supportive environment for our team, maintaining our high standards, and driving efficiency across our studios.
About the Role:
Practice Promotion: Act as the primary representative of the practice, responsible for championing our values and fostering strong relationships both within the team and with external stakeholders
Staff Management: Lead and support the practice's financial and administrative team, coordinating efforts to deliver a variety of essential tasks as needed
Office Management: Oversee the daily operations of the office, including space management, repairs, maintenance, and the implementation of health and safety procedures.
Governance: Oversee all legislative and professional compliance matters, including Companies House filings, Health & Safety certifications, carbon footprint assessments, insurance management, and Quality & Environmental certifications
Event Management: Oversee and coordinate external practice events, liaising with and managing relationships with external suppliers
Team Engagement: Foster collaboration and a positive workplace culture across all levels of the practice.”
Human Resources: Provide confidential, director-level support while overseeing the implementation and adherence to all practice policies and procedures.
About You:
Experience as an Office Manager or equivalent role in a large multi-functional office is essential. Experience within an architectural or construction consultancy related profession would be beneficial.
Strong computer skills across a range of packages and systems including Microsoft, Adobe and Project Information Management.
Ability to effectively lead and motivate a team of administrative professionals to achieve organisational objectives.
Strong verbal and written communication abilities to liaise with various stakeholders, convey information clearly, and foster positive working relationships.
Exceptional organisational skills to manage multiple tasks, prioritise workloads, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in administrative tasks, documentation, and reporting.
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, procedures, and technologies in the administration function.
Experience using financial accounting systems (SAGE or Xero) would be beneficial.
Experience or qualification in HR related matters would be beneficial.
