Grand opening of Ayr’s new ‘Riverside Sport Arena

Holmes Miller was delighted to attend the grand opening of Ayr’s new ‘Riverside Sport Arena’ this afternoon alongside our design team partners, stakeholders and GB athlete Calum Hawkins.

Developed on behalf of South Ayrshire Council, the new £8.5m multi-sport facility features an 8-lane all weather 400m athletics track, a field events area, an outdoor grass and outdoor 3G synthetic sports pitch, an indoor 60m 6-lane athletics track with jumps and throws facilities as well as a fully accessible changing pavilion, café, technical officials pavilion and grandstand enabling the area to host regional and national sporting events.

The facility seeks to encourage active lifestyles throughout the region, serving a diverse range of sporting and community organisations including Ayr Seaforth Athletics Club, Ayrshire Bulls Rugby Club, Ayr United Football Academy, University of the West of Scotland, Ayrshire College and nearby Ayr Academy.
